- Las personas nacidas en Islandia y apátridas desde el nacimiento pueden adquirir la ciudadanía islandesa mediante declaración escrita a la UDÍ antes de los 21 años, siempre que hayan residido continuamente en Islandia desde el nacimiento y al menos 3 años en el momento de la declaración. Los tutores presentan la solicitud si el solicitante tiene menos de 18 años. Añadido por L. 61/2018 §1a, EIF 2018-07-01.

Act 100/1952 §1 a (added by L. 61/2018 2. gr.):
"Sá sem er fæddur hér á landi og hefur verið ríkisfangslaus frá fæðingu öðlast íslenskt ríkisfang með skriflegri tilkynningu til Útlendingastofnunar áður en hann nær 21 árs aldri. Tilkynning skal lögð fram af forsjármönnum hans hafi hann ekki náð 18 ára aldri. Sá sem óskar að öðlast íslenskt ríkisfang skv. 1. mgr. skal hafa dvalist samfellt hér á landi frá fæðingu og í að minnsta kosti þrjú ár þegar tilkynning er lögð fram. Ákvæði 1. og 2. mgr. eiga enn fremur við um þann sem fæðist um borð í skipi eða loftfari ef skipið siglir undir íslenskum fána eða loftfarið er skráð hér á landi."
(A person born in this country and stateless from birth acquires Icelandic citizenship by written notification to UDÍ before reaching age 21. Notification shall be filed by custodians if the person has not reached 18 years of age. A person wishing to acquire Icelandic citizenship under paragraph 1 must have resided continuously in Iceland from birth and for at least three years when notification is filed. The provisions of paragraphs 1 and 2 also apply to persons born on board ship or aircraft if the ship flies the Icelandic flag or the aircraft is registered here.)
